Old but Gold

Visiting the local pagoda in Thailand – Bangkok. This statue struck me as I walked by. It felt so peaceful and fragile. I tried to capture it’s essence in a photograph and this was my favourite shot..

If you’re wondering why he looks like he’s just come out of a party popping celebration, it’s because the statue is ironically Old but Gold. So this is just wear on the statue as the paint starts to strip and/or flake. In monochrome it brings the whole picture to life and adds more depth which I love.
